This year, Good Friday is observed on March 29, and Easter or Resurrection Sunday on March 31.
The Crucifixion of Jesus Christ From A Medical Perspective
The biblical account of Jesus' death on the cross, his burial and his Resurrection, can be found in the following passages of Scripture: Matthew 27:27-28:8; Mark 15:16-16:19; Luke 23:26-24:35; and John 19:16-20:30.
According to Scripture, Jesus was crucified and he died. After his death Joseph of Arimathea asked for the body of Jesus and upon receiving it he placed it in his own tomb.
The Jewish authorities were afraid that his body might be stolen by his disciples so they placed a large stone at the entrance to the burial cave. They sealed it and stationed a detachment of soldiers to make sure that Jesus' body was not be stolen by the disciples thus fulfilling the Prophecy of Jesus.
Jesus said "Destroy this temple and I will rise it up in 3 days."
In
spite of all the precautions, a violent earthquake took place as an
angel rolled back the stone. The angel announced to the women that Jesus
who was crucified was no longer there, "He is risen, just as he said."
Then he instructed the women to inspect the tomb and see for themselves.
Next he told them to go and inform the disciples.

Good Friday & Resurrection Sunday
After his resurrection, Jesus appeared to the women near the tomb and later to the disciples at least 12 different times.
- Jesus' resurrected body was different from his physical body. It was no longer subject to the laws of nature. He could transcend locked doors, walk through walls, and yet he could still be touched and he could eat.
- Before Jesus ascended into heaven he gave the Great Commission, telling his followers to go and make disciples of all nations.
