Many people think that you have to be bad, you have to be evil, to be condemned by God in order to be sent to hell. People think that murderers, pedophiles, rapists, cheaters, wife or husband beaters, pimps, slavers, child molesters, gossips, and liars are really, really bad people and deserve what they get! But most people think that they are not as bad as the other fellow and believe that they are going to heaven because they are basically good.
If you are honest, you will readily admit that all people are flawed in one way or another. The Bible calls that condition SIN and states that both Jews and Gentiles (anyone who is NOT Jewish is a Gentile) are all under sin and in fact have already been judged and condemned (John 3:16-20) by God.
Romans 3:9-12 states: What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Our ancestors, Adam and Eve, chose not to follow God's instruction were deceived by Lucifer, also known as Satan, the Devil, prince of this world, and the evil one, fell from God's grace, and eventually died along with their children.
God hates Sin because it is the very antithesis of His nature, and it separates men from Him. God demands perfection (NO Sin) and since NO MAN OR WOMEN is perfect, he or she cannot atone for sin.
Men needed a Savior, therefore God the Father sent his Son Jesus to redeem us from just, and eternal punishment.
At the cross, Sin and injustice were punished. It’s because the penalty of sin was satisfied through Christ’s sacrifice that the Father can extend His mercy to undeserving sinners. God was just in punishing Sin, and He can also justify sinners who receive Christ by faith according to God's eternal plan.
At the cross, God’s justice was meted out in full (upon Christ), and God’s mercy was extended in full to all who believe.
1 John 2:2 states, ”He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world ... When sin is no longer an issue what everyone needs is life and that life is found only in God's Only Son, Jesus Christ … THEREFORE, if you are in Christ you have passed from death to life, and God the Father proclaims you RIGHTEOUS because of what Jesus did on the cross and because of his resurrection (Ephesians 2:1-5).
What must I Do to Have Eternal Life...To be Saved?
Romans 6:23 says, For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
To be saved you must believe with all your mind and heart that Jesus Christ was crucified and died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures (1Corinthians 15:3-6) and that because of his sacrifice we can have eternal life.
